Stableford

The 7:30 Report — Wednesday 20th October.

Beneath glorious Spring sunshine and upon freshly mown greens and fairways, 10 pairings for a Canadian Pairs social challenge. We added a twist to the event; rather than the usual Canadian rules whereby both partners drive, swap balls and then hit alternate shots, we opted for an ambrose style best ball following the swapping of drives which kept all players engaged.

Thanks to my playing partner Graeme Bonsack, we were able to sneak past our opponents Peter Palmer and Ian Gill by the barest half a stroke.

Final scores:
Plowman/Pickles (handicap 7 and 3/4) 64 and 1/4
Ward/Bonsack (7 and 1/2) and Hoiles/Burrage (6 and 1/2) tied with 66 and 1/2
Gill/Palmer (11) 67
Clare/Sinclair (7 and 1/2) 67 and 1/2
Liddy/ Clark (10 and 1/2) and Collins/Walsh (9 and 1/2) tied on 70 and 1/2
Watson/Dawson (9 and 1/4) 74 and 3/4
Miles/Pongracic (12 and 1/2) 75 and 1/2
Meaning the dishes were done by Flannery/Carter (7) who were just half a point behind the two Ks with a nett score of 76.

Thanks to Gary for organising the pastries and to both Burra and Gary for retrieving the 8 bins.

Next week will be the Macedon Ranges Family Law October Mug o' the Month stableford.

Saturday will see a return to a stableford competition.
