Mug of the Month – Stableford

The 7:30 report; Wednesday 4th August.

Despite predictions of some average weather for today's Calderlink Industries August Mug o' the Month, the competition commenced under cloudy skies that dissipated throughout the morning even briefly allowing some winter sunshine to bathe the course and the twelve angry men that turned out.

Unfortunately Mike 'Hopalong' Hoiles had to vacate the course; rumour is he is catching a late flight for next week's Paralympics hop, skip and stumble event.

With the course still soggy in several parts, no player was able to play to their handicap today, although the greens continue to play truly and remain even paced.

Winner of the Calderlink Industries Mug o' the Month was John 'Shooter' Dawson (14) 35 points. I believe this is John's fourth mug; he must be running out of space in the kitchen cupboard or are these going straight to the pool room?

Runner up on counbtback was my playing partner Jeremy Clare (20) 28 points from Ian Flannery (17).

Followed by:
Gary Liddy (19) 27 points
Walrus (10), Ian Gill (14) and Mike Gorman (20) 24 points
Pierre Watson (21) 21 points

Tiger 'I only get three shots on two holes!' Penney (38) 20 points and a score of 38.75 for his 'backward one and a half somersault in the tuck position' tumble on the 9th fairway.

John Andrew (12) AGAIN avoided the dishes by the skin of his teeth and a probable law suit nearly hitting the tree fellers on the fourth fairway 19 points

Leaving the dishes for Graeme Bonsack (20) 18 points

NTPs Ian Gill 5th/14th and Graeme Bonsack 8th/17th
