Stableford

Two grades again this morning as a field of 17 took to the course. Although damp under foot due to overnight showers, the day dawned pleasantly cool with barely a wisp of a breeze. The heavier air and softer fairways are causing players to throw their ball all the way to the green as there is little, if any, run. It hasn't taken players much time to ignore their long hitting egos and reach for longer clubs.

Winners today came from the final group pairing. Thank you to the two groups in front of us who graciously allowed us to play through thus allowing us to maintain momentum.A grade (9-17) winner: Walrus (11) 36 points and a birdie ball for the first hole. Runner up was Ian 'Grizzle Guts' Gill (15) 33 pts.......Ian, if it's not in the hole, it's not IN the hole!B grade (19+) Jay Dee (19) 39 points which included 22 points on the inward nine holes with two wipes!B grade runner up-Luke Robinson (19).Other scores:Mike Hoiles (17) 32 pts, Tiger Penney (43) 31, Rob Toole (13) 30, Oils Flannery (20) 29, Joggers Andrews (13), Pierre Watson (23), Nifty Clark (22), Gary Liddy (21), Ryan Toholka (16) 28, Jezza Clare (20) and Pete Sinclair (9) all on 28 points, Graeme Bonsack (19) 27 points.

Dishes WOULD have gone to Ryan Toholka on countback from Peter Sinclair and Karl Pongracic (37) 18 points.

Ball comp Walrus and Jay Dee for equalling or bettering their handicaps.

Next Wednesday we resume a bit of Wednesday normality with our first team event since reopening. Remember you must assemble before 7:15 to be in the random draw for partners. Then a 7:30 shot gun hit off. Be there or be talked about.

This Saturday is the 4BBB par competition, which is also the qualification for the Winter 4 Ball Matchplay. Only the top 4 teams qualify. Remember you must write the letter M on your card if you wish to register for the Matchplay event.

I have had several members ask the outcome of last Saturday's unfortunate situation where a member who had left the tailgate of his ute open only to discover upon arrival at MMGC that his clubs and buggy had 'disappeared'. A dash down the highway, and a frantic call to the wife who walked the local neighbourhood to eventually find the clubs intact. Fortunately he did not have to witness fire trucks, ambulances and overturned vehicles on the highway as a kind soul had rescued his buggy and placed it carefully on the side of the road out of harm's way.

Currently 8 groups of four have registered for Saturday morning's comp. Bookings for AM players close at 3pm on Fridays.
