We are back and despite the persistent pre-dawn drizzle there were a dozen brave souls that took their first competitive steps onto the hallowed MMGC turf for the first time since mid March.
All members kept the appropriate distance apart and adhered to using an individual envelope for their comp fee as requested. This will be an ongoing requirement so all members need to make sure they have their $10 comp fee in cash as the clubhouse is closed and there is no cash kept on site.
On behalf of all members a massive thank you to Nathan Fairley and his band of volunteers who have ensured the course was ready for play along with an enormous amount of tidying around the course.
An added bonus today was the securing of 4 new members as well as fielding several calls from green fee players looking to book a round at ‘Our Hidden Treasure on the Mount’.
Results of today’s stableford event:
Well done to all of today’s players who posted their score cards through the green door letterbox. Scores have been uploaded and adjusted handicaps displayed.
Despite the hiatus from golf some things never change as the afternoon group dodged the tougher early morning drizzle and played in benign conditions. Winner: Nathan Fairley (15) 34 points, runner up: Captain Payne (10) 32, Graeme Bonsack (20) 31, Pierre Watson (22) 30, Ian Gill (15) 29 points, Tony Littman (11) 28, Mike Hoiles (16) 27, Joggers Andrews (12) 26, Bryce Singh (22) and Rob Toole (13) 24 pts, which left the pseudo dishes for Luke Robinson (19) 23 points.
Vouchers can be collected on Saturday. Speaking of vouchers these members should catch me on Saturday to retrieve their outstanding prizes BC (before Covid)-Rob Toole x2, Ian Gill, Ken Freestone, Hayden Phillips, Paul Burrows, Bryce Singh and David Watt. Vouchers can be used to pay for competition entry or used towards the cost of membership renewal.
Saturday is a stableford event. Thanks to the 33 morning players who have already booked tee times. Remember to arrive just 10 minutes before your tee off time to ensure social distancing can be maintained. An email and Facebook post of the confirmed times will be forwarded on Friday afternoon after the 3pm booking deadline.
Next Wednesday is again a stableford event-no need to book-turn up between 7:30 and 8:30.
