Stableford

BBBBBRRRRRR! MINUS 1 degree on arrival at 'Our Hidden Treasure on the Mount' this morning. Crystal clear skies and a near full moon greeted the 11 players for a stableford round. With frost as far as the eye could see, it was obviously necessary for players to bash their shoes before encroaching onto the greens to ensure there were no 'pock marks' to putt through. Thank you gentlemen for your etiquette.

We were fortunate to be allowed preferred lies as many balls were coated in ice (and that was just players standing around!) as well as the worm castings and roo poo littering the fairways.

No ball comp winners today as no player was able to equal or better his handicap. Overall winner was Ian Flannery (22) with 33 points just pipping new member Geoff Pickles (33) 32 points (and his first voucher) who grabbed second on a countback from Steve Barrow (19). Clearly the weather was not wet enough for Steve to shine!

NTP second shot on the 5th/14th went to Mike Hoiles.

As always the battle for the dishes was the point of interest in the clubhouse and today was a battle royal with a 4 player tie break on 23 points to determine who would be Mr Suds. Mike Hoiles and Graham Bonsack saved their bacon with solid back nines, so it came down to Gary Liddy and Perennial Penney, both of whom scrambled 10 points for the back nine holes. so to a final 6 hole countback....... still tied........ final 3 holes and T.Penney 4 points (3+0+1) defeats Lids just 3 points!

Thanks to Donnie Bubeck for making it down from sunny Euroa and the Gary for getting the fire started for the boys to enjoy post round.

Last Saturday saw the Winter Matchplay qualification. Winners of the 4BBB par event were the Band of brothers Mike Hoiles and Steve Barrow +7-they will play Matt Willis and Bruce Fraser in their semi final. Runners up Phil Thomas and Jungle +5 are drawn against PGA Pete Sinclair and Trevor Atkins.

This coming Saturday is a Multiple Stableford pairs event so reach out and find a partner who has a basic grasp of arithmetic and knows that multiplying any number by zero is ZERO!
